Last week’s elevation of Jud Fabian and this week’s promotion of Dylan Beavers, Max Wagner, and Adam Retzbach to join him in Aberdeen for their playoff run nearly doubled a relatively exclusive group of Orioles prospects whose progress has warranted a pair of promotions this year.
While those new draftees are in a different category, having only joined the organization in July and moving quickly through levels that weren’t appropriate for them, the farm system boasted four such hitters otherwise whose time at three levels and quick success in them make their development stand out.
While there are some organizational-type players who moved around to multiple affiliates this year, and countless others who for rehab purposes spent time three affiliates as well, this list of four is an interesting one in terms of identifying the biggest gainers on the Orioles’ farm this year and trying to find parallels for their development.
Last year, there were three such hitters — Kyle Stowers, Gunnar Henderson, Jordan Westburg. Even as there’s a chance someone like Connor Norby could earn this distinction still, here’s a breakdown of this year’s three-level hitters, and the position that leaves them in going forward.
