Projecting the Orioles' minor league award winners
The Orioles have some easy choices and some less so when it comes to the top players on their farm. We'll find out soon who wins.
There have been recent years where the only thing to break up the September monotony of a march past 100 losses was the minor league award ceremony, when the Orioles brought their top young stars to town to be honored on the field at Camden Yards for award-worthy seasons.
That won’t be the case this month as the Orioles still try to stay within touching distance of the last AL playoff spot, but it’s worth considering who will be coming to Baltimore for these honors all the same.
In past years, players who win awards within their league are also invited to be honored, but it doesn’t seem like there are any real candidates for those this year; the Orioles move players up far too quickly for that.
What there are, though, are the four mainstay awards the organization has given out for years. Based on what I’ve seen and heard this year, here’s my best guess at who they’ll go to.
