Connor Norby's season turnaround is in full swing. It came about when he remembered what made his great.
In June, the Orioles' second-round pick from a year ago was being swallowed by his struggles. His power surge in Bowie is a far better representation of his game.
Connor Norby was flipping through his phone recently and realized that barely over a year ago, he was still in Florida, the freshly-drafted NCAA hits leader starting a journey through pro ball that has taken him all the way to Double-A in less than a year.
It wasn’t the best year, mind you. He allowed after a two-homer performance at Bowie Thursday that the struggles swallowed him up for a time. But in bringing his home run total to 19 on the season and raising his OPS at Bowie to .923, Norby can reflect on his climb with the confidence that he belongs.
“I think it’s just kind of clicked,” Norby told me. “Some guys, it clicks right away. Some guys – for me – it took a little bit. But it has clicked, and I feel really good right now.”
